UDK Beginners Guide to Programing By Epic Forum's own Rachel Cordone or as we call her AngleMapper.
What a privilege these has been reading through and applying the knowledge that are in the chapters with the explanations of how they work. I am someone who has ADD and sometimes I get distracted from what I’m doing, especially when it comes down to programming which I can say I think I am horrible at. But, Ms. Cordone AKA AngleMapper to the unreal community brings programming with UDK fun for the new user and to people like myself with some slight hurdles to jump across.

I was asked to review a part of the book I liked and why. Sadly I cannot, due to the whole book itself being great read and knowledge tool to those out there that are starting out and have questions on how the inner working of UDK work how they are applied and work with each other. The hands on examples are great as you can apply them to your own alpha as you’re building your game and its environment.

I was about quarter of the way through the book and noticed I was starting to read into how the actor scripting worked and how the script works with the model to allow the model to keeping their feet on the floor and not in the middle of the floor, which has happened before in programming.

But after reading through that particular section I was able to understand and wrap my head around it. I finally knew the values and how the rotation worked without the headache I would end up giving myself in the end in frustration. With this however, it was understandable, upfront and told you what X did with Y and the reasons why they work together so well.

Ms. Cordone’s Guide to UDK gets a 9.5 out of 10 for aiming towards those needing a step up, and helping hand into the programming side if the gaming field and helping us grasp the concepts and learning from them. I thank Rachel and Shaveer for this great opportunity it is a pleasure finally to grasp things that seemed more complicated than they actually are. You can pick up a copy at Packt Publications where you can find other titles to help the UDK Dev Studio that's starting out!

Dec Project update
As you know our dear Anna has received a Job Offer and has taken it, and will more or less unavailable for now but will lend a hand if the time permits. She has also got a lot of work done for the team in regards to the vehicles and rigging and port overs. Jess, has been working hard as well between the project and her job she’s been a very busy person as of late and we appreciate that. Nicholas has also been very hard at work on building the various Voomers for the projects Npc portion of the game project. He’s also become quite fluent in vehicle design as well as you can see here with the Genom Road Bomber 9000 XL. If you will also notice the work being done on Halifax Corporation’s Construction Voomers for assistance in helping rebuild MegaTokyo to the splendor of yesteryear with todays technological overlay. Here are the two latest WIP shots we have at the moment.

Character and Mapping Dev Updates
Hello everyone, I and my team welcome you all back to the site. We did have some major issues over the past year, and those have been taken care of thanks to the pow wow Bruce and I had a few weeks ago on how to keep things on a better stream of progress. We’re now hosted, and site has been updated and brought back up to snuff with the help of Moc of http://www.mochosting.nl for his insightful mind on fixing the issues we were experiencing on the database import/restore. Since the site is back up we can also post news and progress on the project at hand as well. As some of you obviously have already read. We have a team of skilled individuals that work well as a precision based machine without being treated as such. Wanted to bring Sean DiVincenzo and Jean Gorospe on the spot at the moment because they deserve it, the skills they have brought to the team are quite impressive. Here are a few Samples of the work they have already done on the project as a matter of fact from our page at indie database to show the level and knowledge these two have. Sean’s work on The Hugh Geit Facility is outstanding, I am totally in love with the artwork and detailing.

Alpha Map - WIP Stage 1
As this progresses we will be keeping you updated on the status of the Alpha City, it’s to be our sandbox/testbed the programmers will be using to enable gameplay and features. As you can see we are busy at work on this and will be bringing you more news and updates as they come. For now this is Leonardo talking to you from the homefront here at Jade Phoenix.
